As a shopper, I know that when I head into town, I now find that many of the high street stores cater mainly for the young. Some of the shops play excruciatingly loud music and many of the clothes seem to be “barely there”. I shudder as I realise that I am turning into my mother and the absolute last thing that I want is to dress like my granny but I think I must accept that I am no longer able to carry off boob tubes and rara skirts! (not that I ever did!).
One shop that both myself and my 21 year old daughter often shop in is New Look. Funnily enough both of us often buy from clothes from there, albeit in very different sizes! This is a top that I bought there and have worn lots. It looks good with jeans or crops, heels or flats.
As an ex retailer, I realise the importance of knowing your market and ensuring that you cater for it whilst trying not to exclude those who do not fit the demographic.
